West Gate Outside Entrance Lane Closure

The La Paloma Property Owners Association Board of Directors has been made aware of vehicles at the West Gate gaining entrance to the community by driving through the outside entrance lane around other vehicles. Effective Immediately, the West Gate Controlled Access entrance is one lane only. The Board has been exploring the feasibility of expanding the entrance to accommodate a second entrance lane. In the meantime, traffic cones have been placed to prevent drivers from deviating from the single Controlled Access lane. Damage to gate and vehicles deviating from the single Controlled Access lane will be the responsibility of the vehicle’s owner.

LPPOA Security

In response to resident inquiries and recent incidents, the LPPOA Board, HBS Staff, and some residents with security experience met with members of the Pima County Sheriff’s department to review and assess our systems and policies.  While the design of La Paloma with its Club, Hotel, and neighboring communities creates practical security limitations, we wanted to make sure that our gates, people, and technology are up to date with today’s best practices.

The following was noted and recommended:

  1. Be observant and if you see something that you think doesn’t look right, or is possibly a crime, please do not hesitate to let them know.  Do not call the gatehouse first, call the Sheriff first at 911.  By doing so, you will save time and provide more accurate information that they can act upon more quickly.  It also lets the dispatcher ask questions that will help them in responding.  Please let the gatehouse know immediately after speaking with the dispatcher so that they can assist if appropriate and preserve any video that may help the Sherriff’s Department in their investigation.
  2.  Understand that the community and gatehouses are designed primarily to limit and manage vehicular access to La Paloma.  With that in mind, the LPPOA is researching exit cameras that could identify license plates and occupants of vehicles when they exit the gates and assist the Sheriff’s Department in their investigation.
  3.  Some other cameras and video screens are being moved or updated to make them more effective and user friendly.

Please remember the personnel at the gates are gate attendants, they are not security.

We appreciate your help in improving the safety/security of La Paloma.

Gate Access System

The new gate access system is operational in all of La Paloma.  Residents must pre-authorize all guests into the community.  Allowing visitor/contractor access is done via a web-based gatehouse management system called Gate Access by ABDi.  Contact the gatehouse personnel for more information.
